Spooky Dinner

We have our spooky Halloween dinner the night before. Halloween is just too chaotic to try and do it the same day.

On the menu:
Slimy worms with blood sauce and rotting meat (spaghetti with meat sauce)
Bug infested salad
Stale bread
Boneyard brownies

The littles were super excited as always, and could barely keep from peeking at the set up.

Eating our slimy creatures.

PS - While making "Boneyard Brownies" be very careful when taking them out of the oven. If you are not careful you will drop them on the ground (miraculously not breaking the glass dish) and burn your arm rather badly leaving a scar the shape of an extremely large kidney bean.

Red Barn Farm

Our ward had a fall activity at the Red Barn Farm in Weston. We love this farm and used to go there every year for a ward activity before the ward split. Sadly, our new ward didn't have any more activities there - till this year. It was just as much fun as we remembered.

Oz LUVS animals. When there is an animal about, he is gone to the world. Only that animal exists. He loves to feed them, and will without fear stick his whole hand in their mouth. Luckily, he's super gentle and has yet to be nipped. Yet.

They had a super yummy "crock pot luck dinner". There was a ton of variety and we all stuffed ourselves.

Proof of the yumminess.

After dinner we went on a hayride in the dark and then roasted a ton of marshmallows at a huge campfire for s'mores. Oz ate the equivalent of at least an entire large Hershey bar while happily sitting on a log in front of the fire.

Our only complaint? It was too short! Start time was 6pm and by 7:30pm they were cleaning up and people were headed home. By 7:45pm we were nearly the last people there. Come on! On the way home both Jeff and I agreed that 8:00pm should have been the start of a rousing family barn dance! Oh well, it was a great time and we were so glad to have gotten to go.

Thank You Gramma & Papa!

We LUV the Halloween plates, cups and silverware!

It's being VERY well used. In fact, every single chance we get!

Halloween Prep

The littles love waking up to holiday decorations. Halloween is of course a favorite around the Runyan house.

I always hear chit-chattering about what they are seeing and scurrying feet looking for all the decor in different nooks and crannies.

Our family costume theme has been chosen, but I'm not telling what it is.

I WILL say that it is going to be awesome.

BTW - I wholeheartedly recommend Canvas On Demand. They are amazing.

Duncan is NOT a clue.

Just some special surprise decor for me from the littles.

Pickles

We bought 5 of them at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival last weekend. FIVE.

The Uncles will be so proud.

We also saw fun shows, visited the booths, played games, rode rides, danced, took lots of pictures and had a ton of fun in general.

In line to shoot arrows - a family favorite.

All this armor was monstrously heavy and had about 1% visibility.

Making wands and headbands.

Visiting with Leonardo Da Vinci (and some woman, I have absolutely no idea who she was supposed to be).

Huzzah!
