New clothes and backpacks bought, lunches packed, and they could NOT have been more excited.
Our kindergartner and first grader.
Waiting for the bus. Rome was excited about "getting to stand in the street", something he's NEVER allowed to do.
And then they were gone.
Both Jeff and I felt like we'd stepped into a time machine and were back to just an older girl and baby boy. But seeing as Sable and Oz are a very different combination than Capri and Rome were, it was just odd. Good, but odd.
We missed Capri and Rome. Things were VERY quiet all day. Quiet and calm. Sable who we usually describe as "spirited" finally got a chance to show her true colors. She showed me a girl who is very calm, obedient and easy going. And the last week has been the same. Turns out she'd just been jockeying for position and a voice all along.
At 4:25pm they were home (the bus was 25 min. late). They reported good days, were tired, wired, and hungry. Rome asked to play Super Mario Bros. the second he got home. All in all, a success.
That doesn't mean I'm any less upset about watching my littles grow up more. THAT stinks. How old do you think they can get and I can keep calling them my littles? Is 10 too old? How about 16 or 21? 45? I think in my head they will certainly be my littles forever.

sniff, sniff, sigh! they look so cute, i think i would get more emotional about it if my kiddos rode the bus, having to watch them drive away like that tears at the heart strings. at the same time, though, i wish i had the option for the bus rather then having to commute all over town. at least, now they have each other to be with on the way. love it, hope they are are too!
